You may remember that Microsoft, the owner of Windows OS, bought Nokia years ago for $ 7billion and set foot in the mobile world with Windows Phones. Microsoft, which has been quiet since the crash of Windows Phone, has now announced a dual-screen foldable Android phone called the Surface Duo.
The Surface Duo has two 5.6-inch displays and uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 chipset. When the two displays are not folded, they are about the size of an 8.3-inch tablet. The Android 9 pie has been slightly tweaked to make it easier to use on both of its screens.
You can run multiple apps on each display at the same time, switch from one display to Landscape Mode and use the other as a keyboard or game controller.
Microsoft’s Surface Duo uses a glass hinge instead of a plastic hinge like Samsung’s Galaxy Fold, so durability is better.
Pricing and other details for the Surface Duo are unclear. The device will officially go on sale next year for the 2020 holiday. You can watch Surface Duo Introducing Video at this Youtube Link
It also introduced the Surface Neo, the older brother of the Surface Duo. The Surface Neo is also a large foldable tablet with dual screens.
Neo’s two screens are 9 inches apart, and each screen is only 5.6mm thick. The entire tablet weighs just 655 grams and the display is made of Gorilla Glass.
The lightweight Surface Pen can be attached to the back and has an extra keyboard. Use the emoji to attach the keyboard to the bottom corner of a screen with a magnet. It can also be used as a touchpad. If you do not want to use it, you can use the keyboard alone and run two apps on two displays at the same time. Or if you do not want to use a physical keyboard, you can type on one side of the display like a keyboard.
The two screens can be rotated 360 degrees and have a solid hinge in the middle.
The Surface Neo CPU is powered by Intel’s new Lake Field Processor and is compatible with Intel 11th Gen Graphics. It runs on Windows 10 (also known as Windows 10X) OS optimized for dual screens.
The Surface Neo Foldable Tablet will not be available until next year’s 2020 holiday, and pricing is unknown.
Microsoft introduced the products at a surface event in New York. In addition to these products, the 13-inch Microsoft Surface Pro X running Windows OS was also announced. It uses a Snapdragon processor called SQ 1, customized for Windows.
Pricing starts at $ 999 and will be available to pre-order in November.
Here are the specs of the Surface Pro X.
